At Crystal Clear Polishing & Detailing, cars are more than just machines – they’re memories, milestones, and masterpieces in motion. Our story began long before we opened our Yate-based studio. Founder Darryl Gray’s love for cars was sparked during childhood rides in his grandad’s Lotus and Nissan Z32 300ZX, and solidified when he was entrusted with pressing the “Sport” button on his dad’s Vauxhall Carlton Sport. That moment ignited a passion that became a profession.
Darryl studied paint refinishing and advanced bodywork at college, achieving over 40 City & Guilds–accredited qualifications. While still in training, he launched Crystal Clear Polishing in 2011 with a mission: to bring craftsmanship, care, and credibility back to automotive detailing.

Meet Darryl – Founder, Detailer, Industry Leader
Darryl isn’t just a detailing expert – he’s a pioneer. As one of the first painters in Europe to be trained in water-based paint technology, he helped lead the industry’s shift to safer, eco-conscious practices. He’s demonstrated live at Waxstock for Nanolex, collaborated with brands like Gtechniq, Wax Is Dead, and even detailed a Ferrari alongside Yiannimize.
He also co-founded and successfully sold Bristol Detailing Supplies, proving his entrepreneurial and industry credibility.
